At The Janice Hart Foundation, we believe that caregivers are the backbone of compassion in our society. They show up every day for their loved ones—often without recognition, support, or rest.
That’s why we exist.
Our mission is to build a supportive community and offer tangible resources for caregivers of individuals living with progressive illnesses. We aim to ensure that no caregiver ever walks this journey alone.
Our founder, Ashley Hart, created the Foundation in honor of her grandmother Janice, who served as a full-time caregiver for her husband during his battle with Alzheimer’s. Years later, Ashley watched her aunt care for Janice during her cancer diagnosis—all while juggling full-time work and a pandemic.
These deeply personal experiences opened Ashley’s eyes to a painful truth: caregivers give so much of themselves but often have nowhere to turn when they need help.
The Janice Hart Foundation was born from love—and built for impact.
We're approaching this work with intention and purpose. Our vision for The Janice Hart Foundation will unfold in strategic, compassionate phases:
We’re focused on building a strong caregiver community while raising awareness about the challenges caregivers face. We’re also providing practical resources, including contact information for attorneys, respite care services, home health aides, and other essential tools.
We’re expanding to offer caregiver support groups and building a network of trained, compassionate volunteers to provide assistance and respite. Every caregiver deserves a moment to rest and feel seen.
Caregivers often shoulder unexpected expenses. We’re working toward launching a small emergency assistance fund to help with medical bills, utility payments, groceries, transportation, and rent during moments of crisis.
Caregivers deserve a seat at the table. We are committed to advocating at the state level, starting in Florida, to secure additional funding, legislative support, and recognition for the essential work caregivers do.
As we grow, we’ll establish a full-time leadership team and support staff. This includes bringing on mental health and social work interns, and laying the foundation for a paid internship program.
We’ll replicate our model and grow into new regions across the state—always in partnership with local leaders and caregiver communities.
Our long-term dream? A worldwide community of empowered caregivers. We believe every caregiver, no matter where they live, deserves to feel supported, resourced, and never alone.
We’re inviting sponsors, caregivers, and community leaders to join us in this mission. Whether you give your time, your voice, or your financial support, there is a place for you in our work.
This isn’t just a nonprofit. It’s a movement—and we’re just getting started.
